If you plan on being in the area of San Jose, CA in the not too distant future, then you will get a chance to meet C. Andrew Nelson in person. Andrew will be a guest at Super-Con, the third largest convention on the west coast. This year’s event promises to be their best yet. Appearing at the convention with Andrew will be fellow Star Wars actor Daniel Logan (Boba Fett from Attack of the Clones), Jorge Garcia (Lost), Wil Wheaton (Star Trek: The Next Generation), and Henry Thomas (E.T. The Extra-Terrestrial).
Also appearing at this year’s Super-Con are the original cast of Mystery Science Theater 3000, Joel Hodgson (series creator and host “Joel Robinson”), J. Elvis Weinstein (“Dr. Erhardt” and the original “Tom Servo”), Trace Beaulieu (“Dr. Forrester” and the original “Crow T. Robot”), and Frank Conniff (“TV’s Frank”). Plus, just confirmed for the show is actor Richard Kiel (Jaws from the James Bond films) who starred in no less than four films riffed on by MST3K.
As a longtime fan of Mystery Science Theater 3000, Andrew is delighted to announce that he has been asked to moderate the Super-Con panel with Joel, J. Elvis, Trace, and Frank as they answer questions about MST3K and discuss their latest hysterical project, Cinematic Titanic. Andrew had the great fortune of attending the live world premiere of CT’s first episode, The Oozing Skull, at a special screening at Industrial Light & Magic. “I have never laughed that hard in my life,” says Andrew about the show, “I hope every MSTie out there will take this opportunity to come to San Jose and meet these guys who couldn’t be a nicer, funnier group of people.”
Super-Con is happening May 17th & 18th 2008 at the San Jose Convention Center in San Jose, CA. Drop by and say hello to Andrew and the rest of the great line up of guests.

Two films that C. Andrew Nelson worked on will be released in theaters on the exact same day this month. Both of them feature Andrew’s handiwork as a visual effects artist.
Based on the popular series of children’s fantasy adventure books, The Spiderwick Chronicles opens across the US on February 14th. According to Andrew the film represents some of the most challenging effects tasks he’s ever done.
Also in theaters on Valentine’s Day is the film Jumper starring Andrew’s fellow Star Wars actors Hayden Christensen and Samuel L. Jackson. Andrew’s effect work for Jumper centered around footage involving Christensen. “It’s always interesting to work on effects shots that feature actors that you personally know,” says Andrew. This is not the only film where Andrew has performed his VFX magic on shots of Christensen. “The first time was Star Wars Episode II: Attack of the Clones,” Andrew recalls, “I did quite a few effects shots - more than I can count - that had Hayden in them for that film. Back then I had, of course, already played Darth Vader many times and he had yet to turn completely to the dark side.” Now with Jumper you’ve got one Vader actor onscreen and another behind the scenes. “I guess it’ll make for more interesting trivia for the Star Wars fans,” says Andrew.
Check out both effects-heavy films at your local cinema starting February 14th, 2008.
